Seneca is in the process of developing a holistic, integrated Academic Integrity (AI) program model that is grounded in a teaching and learning approach1. It requires the engagement and participation of multiple stakeholders.
The purpose of the program is to raise the current standard and maintain a high standard of academic integrity across the institution. The integrated nature of the program requires the updating of policy and procedures, as well as developing training and resources to support faculty, education and information/training sessions, student life programming for students, and training for staff and administration. All are to be aligned with the institutional philosophy of and approach to academic integrity.
Academic Integrity Sub-CommitteeAs part of the development of Seneca’s Academic Integrity program, an Academic Integrity Sub-Committee will be struck as a standing committee of Academic College Council (ACC). It shall review, discuss, and provide recommendations to and seek feedback from the college community and ACC related to Seneca’s academic honesty (integrity) policy and procedures as it relates to all disciplines across the college. The Sub-Committee will also serve as an expert reference group to the ACC, providing insight and input, acting in an advisory capacity to the Vice-President, Academic.
The Academic Integrity Sub-Committee will consist of representatives from academic, administrative and support staff, and students. Members do not represent a particular constituency; they are selected for their experience, their innovative ideas, a demonstrated understanding of contemporary frameworks for academic integrity, and the ability to apply their thinking on an institutional level and from a variety of perspectives. Academic Integrity Sub-Committee members will normally sit for a three-year, one-time renewable term; exceptions include student members whose term may be shorter.
Membership will include the following:
