The spirit of innovation and commitment to students at Seneca is as strong as ever.
Earlier this fall, the Advancement and Alumni team launched its first-ever $25,000 Challenge, putting a call out to the Seneca community to bring forward its innovative student-focused ideas and proposals for new projects to fund and support.
The winning project was submitted by professor Tania Killian of the School of Nursing at King Campus. Hers was a unique proposal that would enable her nursing program, and others, to use the donated funds to purchase four additional simulation mannequins designed to help augment student learning experiences. These high-tech devices retail at approximately $5,500/unit and offer incredible hands-on learning to students preparing for careers in the health care field.
For the Advancement team, this was an incredible opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the exciting initiatives in need of funding at Seneca. In all, 14 proposals were received from across the Seneca community that were evaluated by a panel of judges including representatives from the Advancement and Alumni team as well as the senior executive committee. Not surprisingly, the quality and calibre of the proposals submitted was outstanding.
The Advancement team will look across Seneca’s roster of donors and partners to find ways to advocate for all the Challenge submissions in the future. If you or colleagues have other ideas for innovative student-focused projects that the Advancement team may be able to fundraise for, please contact advancement@senecacollege.ca.
