in the Fall 2017 issue
With its comprehensive review of Academic Policy now complete, Academic College Council (ACC) has set the groundwork for the next phase of its task to convert policies from our existing Academic Policy document to the College’s new policy template. This conversion will require revision of some policies and development of others in response to new priorities and initiatives in the College, such as the need for a robust transfer credit policy, and the College Quality Assurance Audit Process (CQAAP) requirement for a feedback policy.
Our review revealed that many of the articles in our current Academic Policy are informational or procedural pieces that belong in other documents or jurisdictions, and so working groups will be very busy this fall creating, writing, augmenting, or reframing our academic policies, including our existing policies on Academic Honesty/Integrity and Appeals. The new policy template will ensure we have a consistent approach to policy development, documentation, review periods and, what is a departure from our current document, a clear separation between policy and procedures.
If you are interested in participating in working groups and joining our new ACC Chair, Jo Ann Purcell, and members of the Council as they tackle the next phase of construction, please contact Cristina Arlia (cristina.arlia@senecacollege.ca). It’s an exciting time to be part of ACC!
