It has been another busy academic year at Seneca. Overall enrolment has met projected targets and the efforts implemented to improve timely tuition payments have had excellent results.
Enrolment for the Summer intake has been strong. We have surpassed our Day 10 projected targets for both domestic and international students; as a result, we have approximately 9 percent more students attending classes this summer compared to last year.
The long-awaited Visual Schedule Builder tool was implemented for the summer registration process. Visual Schedule Builder is a registration interface which allows students to select their own timetables. There were some initial bumps, but by the start of classes, over 98 percent of students had successfully registered for their summer courses. Online supports are available; in-person support was provided at each campus during the first few days of the enrolment period and throughout the first week of the term. We met with stakeholders at the end of May to gather feedback and suggestions for an improved process and to highlight several improvements currently underway for the Fall registration process.
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you may have on the process to ensure we address any concerns.
An additional feature for Fall registration will be a process whereby students can opt out of certain ancillary fees based on the Provincial Government’s “Student Choice Initiative” announced on January 17, 2019. More information about Fees and Payments is available on the Registrar’s website. You can also read more about this in the Fee Changes for Fall 2019 article in this issue.
Wishing everyone a safe and fun-filled summer.
