Strategies that emphasize student leadership and intensive programming about the importance of academic integrity can influence student behaviours and the development of students’ understanding of what is and isn’t cheating in addition to the fundamental values of academic integrity. Seneca recently introduced its first student micro-credentials awarded for completion of Academic Integrity tutorials. There are three tutorials; when a student has completed all three tutorials, they earn the Academic Integrity Milestone micro-credential.

Integrity in Action (found on the student resources page of the website) – this self-paced online tutorial focuses on the importance of academic integrity, Seneca’s Academic Integrity policy, and how to avoid academic integrity violations. Scenarios are provided to help the learner apply the policy, find supporting resources, and make good decisions.

Seneca Integrity Matters app (available through the Apple and Android app stores) – this tutorial helps students understand the importance of the six fundamental values of academic integrity as defined by the International Centre for Academic Integrity and how they impact one’s academic life and beyond. The app contains modules with scenarios, quizzes, and games.

Plagiarism and Citations (coming soon to the student resources page of the website) – in this tutorial, students will learn to identify examples of plagiarism, common misconceptions about plagiarism, the importance of citations and where to get more help. The tutorial allows the student to choose to complete either an MLA or APA module.
