The Degree and Credit Transfer Office underwent some significant changes this academic year. Effective October 1, 2019, the Transfer Credit process was moved to the Registrar’s Office. This change was implemented so we could utilize our expertise and prioritize our efforts in building our catalogue of inbound pathways to the same extent that we support students and our academic areas with outbound pathways.
In 2001, Seneca was the first College in Ontario to create a department focused entirely on establishing strategic outbound pathway opportunities and providing pathways advisement to prospective and current students and alumni. With a renewed focus, the department will now provide the same level of service and expertise for pathways into Seneca programs. What was once the Degree and Credit Transfer Office will now be called Academic Pathways: the department devoted to the promotion of pathways into, within, and out to degree programs at Seneca and other postsecondary institutions.
New initiatives which are in the works:
Academic Pathways will continue to support our academic areas with the establishment of new pathways and partnerships both into and out of Seneca programs. We will support the degree development teams when creating or renewing degrees to ensure that strong pathways exist into our programs and opportunities are available for students to pursue graduate-level education after the completion of their degree credential at Seneca.
