Seneca hosted the Semi-Annual meeting of the Academic Integrity Council of Ontario (AICO) on May 4, 2021. Representatives of AICO-member institutes from across Ontario and additional guests from across Canada joined the virtual meeting. Laurel Schollen, Vice-President, Academic, welcomed our guests to the day filled with Academic Integrity experts and conversations.
Linda Facchini, from the Teaching & Learning Centre, delivered the keynote session on Assessing with Integrity. Her session provided valuable authentic assessment strategies that can help us overcome some of the challenges we face in our tireless efforts to promote academic integrity.
Holly Cybulski, School of Media, moderated a panel of experts holding Conversations on Academic Integrity and File Sharing Sites. We were fortunate to learn from the perspectives and experiences of Sarah Elaine Eaton, University of Calgary; John Paul Foxe, Ryerson University; and Kelly Ahuna, University at Buffalo. The panelists weighed in on many questions (e.g., What can we do to make students aware of the pitfalls of using file sharing sites?) and gave attendees valuable information to consider and reflect upon.

During the lunch break, attendees were treated to a live music performance by Alex Showdra (guitar, vocals) and his band, with special guest Amy Lin (violin).
The afternoon agenda featured the AICO Executive covering AICO business, strategic planning discussions that gathered feedback through breakout rooms, and the launch of the new AICO logo and AICO website.
Details about the AICO Semi-Annual meeting in fall 2021 will be announced through the AICO website.
