The homescreen of the Seneca Safe App, as displayed on a smartphoneIt is important that everyone in the Seneca Community feels safe while they are on campus. This includes having easy access to notify security during an incident or emergency and to be aware of safety concerns across the campus.

Seneca Safe, the official mobile safety app of Seneca, is an essential tool to enhance your safety on any Seneca campus. The app will send you important safety alerts and provide instant access to campus safety resources, including emergency contacts, emergency response plans, and counselling and medical resources. Seneca Safe also includes a direct link to campus Security and allows your cellphone or device to be used as a Mobile BlueLight.

On March 5, 2018, new features were added to the Seneca Safe platform. Classroom podium PC computers across all campuses now have Seneca Safe available. Seneca Safe is on computers in two locations:

  • as a desktop icon
    Seneca Safe desktop icon
  • and a tray icon
    Seneca Safe tray icon

It is also able to receive emergency desktop notifications similar to those received on the Seneca Safe app.

The main feature of the icon is that it acts as a panic button. This important safety feature allows individuals in threatening or alarming situations to silently notify security through the classroom computer.

To trigger the panic button in an emergency, click three times on the Seneca Safe desktop icon or tray icon. Users will see “Seneca Safe has been activated” displayed in a bubble above the icon. This confirms the alarm has been initiated.

Bubble above the Seneca Safe tray icon, indicated that Seneca Safe has been activated.

Similar to the Mobile BlueLight, by activating Seneca Safe, you are sending an alert and your location to the dashboard monitored by Security 24 hours a day. Security and Emergency Management Services will respond to the location of the alarm.

If you would like more information about Seneca Safe or would like to see a demo of the app, email security@senecacollege.ca. The Seneca Safe app can be downloaded on your mobile device or tablet through the App Store or Google Play.
