As part of the Humber-Seneca Polytechnics Partnership (HSPP), the two colleges held a joint Teaching & Learning Day on February 24, 2020 at Seneca’s Newnham Campus. There were 180 in attendance from both Seneca and Humber.
The day started with a keynote panel on “The State of Technology in Higher Education,” moderated by Holly Cybulski, professor in the School of Media and Seneca’s Teaching & Learning Centre. The panel consisted of Stella Bastone from George Brown College, Terry Greene from Fleming College, Greg Rodrigo from Georgian College, and Michel Singh from eCampusOntario. Attendees spent the rest of the day in focused streams – before lunch, they learned more about their stream; in the afternoon, they had time to build and explore within their stream and create something they can use in their courses. The session facilitators have shared their resources; you can find them on the Resources page of the Teaching & Learning Day website.
All participants who met the criteria for the day can earn a micro-credential.
The day also included remarks from Laurel Schollen, Vice-President Academic at Seneca, David Porter, Dean of Innovative Learning at Humber, and Henry Decock, Associate Vice-President of Academic Partnerships, Applied Research, and Academic Quality at Seneca.
