Welcome back!
It has been a busy summer: finalizing new policies, enhancing our bursaries and awards process, creating a new tuition summary, and bringing applicants through the admission process.
We are expecting over 10,000 new students and over 12,000 returning students this fall. Our new international student population will be comprised of students from 135 different countries around the world.
Much work has been done to revise our academic policies for the coming year; this work is highlighted in Academic Policy Changes: What is new for 2018/19? of this issue, so I will only let you know that we have directed students to the new policy hub to review the revised academic policies.
New applicants to Seneca were able for the first time to apply for and receive bursaries at the start of the fall term as opposed to halfway through, thanks to a major enhancement to the online awards application.
The Ministry’s push to provide “free” tuition for low income students has resulted in a new account summary view that students can access through their online student centre. The “Net Billing View” displays tuition and ancillary costs compared to a student’s OSAP allocation and any Seneca-sponsored bursaries or awards that have been applied.
It will no doubt be a busy term, with endless opportunities for improvements. We are always willing to review new initiatives to improve our level of service and the overall student experience; should you have questions, concerns, or a great idea to improve a current process or practice, please feel free to send me a note or visit one of the RO managers at your home campus.
