The Seneca Applied Research team is here to help faculty, students, and partners engage in collaborative applied research activities. This semester, we have a variety of ways for you to learn more about and get involved in applied research:
Seneca Applied Research Fund
The Seneca Applied Research Fund (ARF) is now accepting applications.
ARF is designed to support emerging applied research activities at Seneca, and strengthens networks among students, faculty, staff, and external partners. Through ARF, up to $12,000 is available to Seneca faculty researchers to explore applied research initiatives, in partnership with an industry and/or community partner, which address a business challenge and that provide experiential learning opportunities for student researchers. Additional information on ARF can be found on the Applied Research website. The deadline for applications is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018.
ARF is a competitive fund. While the success rate will be dependent upon the number of applications received, historically Seneca has funded ~50% of the submissions. It is expected that successful applications will demonstrate each of the following:
Fall 2018 Applied Research Events
Seneca ARIE will be hosting a series of Applied Research Information Sessions this semester at the Newnham, Seneca@York, and King campuses. These are geared to faculty new to doing research at Seneca. You will learn about how to get involved and the supports available from Seneca. You’ll also have the opportunity to self-identify your areas of subject matter expertise, and share that information with ARIE so that we can include it in our internal faculty expertise database, as well as to join our applied research digital communications forum.
We will also be hosting Peer to Peer sessions throughout the semester. In these sessions, you will hear from your peers about their experience doing applied research at Seneca, and network with other faculty interested in getting involved.
Finally, we will be hosting Applied Research Showcase events at the Newnham, Seneca@York, and King campuses for faculty and students to share their research, including in-class and capstone projects.
The dates and locations for all events are posted on the ARIE website.
