• Align assessments clearly with course learning outcomes so students understand expectations• Use varied assessment methods (projects, presentations, written work) to support diverse learners• Integrate active learning strategies to increase engagement and deepen understanding• Communicate assessment criteria, rubrics, and expectations clearly at the start of the term
• Provide meaningful, constructive feedback linked to learning outcomes• Return results and feedback within 10 Seneca business days or before the next assessment (as per Seneca Student Assessment Policy)• Inform students in advance if feedback timelines need to change• Offer feedback through multiple channels (e.g. written, rubric-based, in-class, office hours)
• Differentiate assessments to promote equity and accessibility• Encourage student reflection and self-assessment• Create opportunities for students to discuss feedback and next steps• Use assessment results to refine teaching and improve learning experiences
• Explore more teaching best practices through Seneca’s Teaching & Learning Centre• Access pedagogy guides, lesson planning tools, and active learning strategies• Participate in professional development (PD) workshops and classes to strengthen teaching practice• Take advantage of consultations, learning communities, and instructional design support
