Supporting Students as They Prepare for Upcoming Tests

As we approach the mid‑semester assessment period, this is a great time to help students get organized and ready for their upcoming tests. Here are a few reminders you can share with your class and steps to help ensure everything runs smoothly, especially for students with academic accommodations.

1. Encourage Students to Begin Preparing Early

  • Remind students to review weekly notes, complete practice questions, and attend any review sessions.
  • Share study tips or short check‑ins to help them focus on key concepts.
  • Share the assessment or test formats or expectations via Blackboard announcements.

2. Important: Students With Accommodations

Students registered with accommodations:

Please remind accommodated students that tests can be attempted in the Test Centre for their accommodations to be applied correctly. Otherwise attempting during class time may limit the accommodations available.

3. What You Can Do as the Professor

  • Announce test dates clearly and early, both in class and in Blackboard.
  • Book tests in the test centre as soon as possible.
  • Use class time to help students review for upcoming tests or mid-terms.
