Welcome to Week 8!

Welcome to Week 8!

We have reached the 2nd half of the Winter 2026 semester which means you may have or are in the process of administering midterm assessments.

Please remember to grade these assessments in a timely manner so students can gauge how they are performing in your class. This is particularly important as students need to decide if they want to "DNC" your class

Please follow these steps to help students make an informed decision about whether to “DNC” your class:

  1. Ensure at least 30% of the total course assessments are graded by Friday, March 6, 2026.
This provides students with a meaningful indication of their academic progress. Please also confirm that all assessment scores and weights align with Seneca’s Student Assessment Policy.
  2. Discuss the student’s progress and likelihood of success.
A brief, constructive conversation can help students understand whether they should continue in your class for the remainder of the semester.
  3. Refer students to the Service Hub if they are considering a DNC.
Their student adviser can confirm whether a DNC is academically appropriate and whether it will affect their study status. In some cases, students may not be eligible to opt for a DNC.

For more information, please visit Did not complete (DNC) grades.

Here's to a strong 2nd half of the semester supporting our learners with clarity, consistency, and care. 👏
