We invite you to participate in this International Learning Opportunity in which you will compete with students from Seneca Polytechnic and University of Rosario. Competitors will experience the challenge of being the CEO of an important Hotel responsible for reducing corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change while maintaining the business profitable.
The competition is based on the online simulator “Net Zero” developed by Tim Rogmans. Learners play the role of the General Manager of a 500-room, 4-star city-center hotel with the goal of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As a first major step, the hotel needs to reduce its emissions by 50% over the next 7 years and at the same time optimize its financial performance. Each year, learners must prioritize and select up to 3 initiatives from a wide-ranging and evolving list that impact the hotel’s emissions and business performance.
To learn more about the simulator, please watch the following video: Sustainability Management Simulation: Net Zero - Overview
The experience will take place from 23 to 27 October of 2023, and participants will be able to win additional marks for their sustainability course, depending on their performance as follows:
You will compete independently and be able to play as many times as you want (you can run the simulation several times) during the duration of the competition. The performance of the competitors will be shared daily via email during the competition week, and those who earn a mark will receive a certificate of participation.
Participation is limited. We will contact you on October 16th if you are selected.
