Podcast Episode 1: Adapting an Open Text with Tom Bartsiokas and Tricia Hylton
You can one of these platforms to build or adapt your OER.
eCampusOntario has a call for OER reviewers.
Who can help you with OERs?
What material needs to be made accessible? What kind of accessibility statement needs to accompany an open textbook?
You may choose to create your own OER if you cannot find one to adapt, or you may already have content created but would now like to share it.
There is a lot of great content already developed but maybe it’s not quite right for your course. The great thing about OERs, in most cases, is you can modify the content as you wish!
The process of evaluating OERs is similar to evaluating textbooks.
The OER Committee has put together some draft workflows to assist faculty interested in using OERs or alternative textbooks and course materials.
The committee was struck in Spring of 2017 as a sub-committee of the Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC).
OERs are "any type of educational materials that are in the public domain or introduced with an open license."
