View all the Teaching & Learning Centre Spark Plugs!
by Todd Malarczuk, Professor in the Teaching & Learning Centre
The Teaching & Learning Centre is happy to announce that the New Faculty Mentoring Program (NFMP) will continue in the 2024-2025 academic year.
We are again looking for experienced, knowledgeable, supportive mentors who have a passion for working with others to achieve their goals.
NEW: Those accepted through the application process will be added to a ‘pool’ of mentors to be drawn upon as required by Chairs.
If you are currently a mentor, you will be added to the pool automatically (no need to reapply).
The New Faculty Mentoring Program is an integrated and non-evaluative support for new faculty, not an additional onboarding requirement.
The mentor’s role is to meet weekly with the mentee to build a trusting, professional relationship that will enable the setting and achievement of goals, provide a safe place to ask questions/garner advice about the policies, teaching and learning expectations, and culture at Seneca Polytechnic, and support the mentee’s successful transition to Seneca Polytechnic.
Mentees are not the only ones who benefit from the Mentor/Mentee partnership. Here are but a few benefits for mentors:
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please complete the application form by May 31, 2024.
Thank you for your continued support of our new faculty members.

Hi Todd:
I submitted an application last year to be a Mentor and I did not hear back ... I am wondering do I need to complete the application again (i.e., do you have me on file from my application last year? I would have appreciated a note saying - "Thanks for your interest in serving as a Mentor but we did not find a match for you ... we will keep your application on file for future semesters."
Please advise!
