Beyond the Classroom is a new podcast from the Teaching & Learning Centre that dives into how our fantastic educators and staff are successfully engaging students in relevant and authentic learning experiences, to get them ready for community and industry after graduation. It brings together educators, leaders, and innovators to share their stories, strategies, and challenges in creating more engaging, inclusive, and impactful learning environments.

The podcast moves beyond traditional teaching methods, focusing on how education is no longer confined to classrooms and textbooks. Instead, it emphasizes the importance of building connections with students, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability — all skills necessary in today’s globalized world. Educators featured on the podcast discuss their approaches to making learning more collaborative and interactive, blending traditional education with newer methodologies like Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and project-based learning.

A key theme in Beyond the Classroom is the importance of continuous growth, not just for students but also for educators. The podcast encourages teachers to be lifelong learners, reflecting on their practices and embracing change. Educators share how they adapt to meet the diverse needs of their students while staying open to mentorship and innovation in their teaching.

What sets Beyond the Classroom apart is its broad appeal. It’s not just for educators, but also for students, parents, and professionals interested in the current landscape of higher education. Whether you’re a teacher looking for fresh ideas, a student navigating your learning journey, or a parent curious about education, the podcast offers valuable insights for anyone passionate about learning.

At its core, Beyond the Classroom is about connection, creativity, and growth. It serves as a platform for educators to redefine teaching and learning in the 21st century, helping to build a community of innovators who are shaping the future of education.

We invite you to listen to episode one, now available, and embark on this exciting journey into the future of education with us: Episode 1: Strategies for Connecting with Students featuring Sonal Kamath.
