Join us in-person at Newnham Campus for this special Curriculum Integration session featuring guest speaker Hiren Mistry.
This session will affirm and extend faculty knowledge and understanding of effective inclusive teaching and assessment practices. During this workshop, participants will have opportunities to reflect on their experiences as learners and as educators and offer feedback about a responsive teaching template that is being developed to empower student voice and faculty pedagogy.
Hiren Mistry has been in the field of education for 25 years serving diverse students and educators as a classroom teacher, college instructor and school administrator. Hiren has dedicated most of his career to developing teaching and assessment strategies to meet the needs of diverse students. Hiren has extensive experience supporting faculty development in higher education. Hiren is a former seconded lecturer at York University (Faculty of Education, 2012-2014) and a former instructor with the Culturally Inclusive Educator Certificate Program at Humber College (2018-2020). Over the past decade, Hiren has delivered workshops to faculty at Centennial College, Humber College, and the University of Toronto on topics related to inclusive teaching practices. Hiren currently serves in the role of Vice Principal at White Oaks SS in the Halton District School Board. Hiren is currently completing his doctorate in Higher Education and Leadership at the University of Toronto (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) focusing on the intersection of policy, religious diversity and school leadership.
