Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year!

新年快乐 (Xīnnián kuàilè) Happy New Year!

2022 is the year of the Tiger (虎年 hǔ nián, “Tiger Year”).

The Tiger ranks third in the 12 Chinese zodiac signs. In Chinese culture, it is believed that a person’s personality and characteristics are closely related to their zodiac sign. Known as the king of all beasts in China, the tiger is a symbol of strength, braveness and the expulsion of evil. People believe that the tiger is the protector of children. Children wear tiger head hats and tiger head shoes for good luck.

Based on the Chinese lunar calendar, Tiger years are 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034.

Our Chinese instructor, Anonymous   teaches us how to express a New Year's greeting on CE's Facebook and Instagram accounts.
