Seneca has been recognized with three 2023 Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) Awards of Excellence. The awards, which will be giving out during CICan’s annual conference in April, recognize best practices from postsecondary institutions across the country as well as individual leadership and achievement. Three faculty members in FOA are the 2023 bronze recipients of the CICan Awards of Excellence for the Leadership Excellence Award for Faculty for their roles in organizing and sustaining the faculty virtual Roundtables. Congratulations to Erin Dolmage, Jamie Zeppa and Mary Trant for their contributions and ongoing support to fellow colleagues in this regard! Faculty Roundtables have become a staple of peer-to-peer support. Up to 70 faculty members attend each Roundtable. Through a combination in-house expertise and outside resources, the Roundtables have become an integral part of establishing a community of practice that assists with diverse initiatives that range from Indigenizing curriculum to academic integrity to EDI to AODA compliance. This group of three faculty members have helped create space for faculty to share and help each other develop high quality and responsive learning experiences for students. The Roundtables also serve an important function of providing opportunity for faculty to get together and feel a sense of connection in our flexible work environment. The Roundtables have been ongoing consistently for almost three years now, and continue to be an invaluable aspect of community support.
