We are thrilled to announce Staysail Shedd as the Faculty of Arts (FOA) valedictorian for the March 2nd convocation ceremony! Staysail completed Seneca Polytechnic’s Honours Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (INS) program. Please join us to celebrate Staysail and all members of FOA’s graduating class of 2024 on Saturday March 2nd at 10am. We are #SenecaProud!

Staysail earned a 4.0 GPA in INS and completed her degree remotely over a period of four semesters. She thrived in the online learning environment that INS offers through its Flex delivery mode. Staysail is a clear and effective communicator in both academic and informal contexts, and consistently found meaningful ways to engage with coursework. Staysail’s outstanding capstone research project was engaging, original, and methodologically sophisticated.  In her research, she explored ways to engage in activities in her community and to reflect on the impact of those activities for individual and group well-being.  This proved Staysail as an engaged, conscientious member of society, exemplifying the values of Seneca Polytechnic. She was also recognized for her astute writing process. For a final project in a communications course, Staysail shared a digital story that was a personal and theoretically rigorous analysis of loss, family, memory and photography. Congratulations again Staysail, we are overjoyed you are being recognized for your contributions to Seneca Polytechnic.
