Curriculum Integration Newsletter: May 26-30

Hello everyone! As spring is now in full swing, it's also a time for new beginnings in Curriculum Integration. This edition, we feature the kickoff of the GenAI CI cohort, as well as the inaugural What the Trickster Taught Me column by Mark Solomon, AVP, Reconciliation and Inclusion.

Curriculum Integration: Spring 2025 GenAI Cohort

Brown backpack with two leaves at the top representing the start of this journey.

Our 16 Faculty Champions have completed four sessions thus far, engaging in range of concepts and ideas. They have played with AI tools themselves and been shown how to create AI syllabus statements and AI disclosure statements (as a way for students to cite AI contributions). We have also invited Seneca students to explain how they are using GenAI and expressed some of their own concerns around its use.

This week, we were joined by an industry representative from Pricewaterhouse Coopers who took us through a day in the life of current employees and how they interact with GenAI tools.

Moving forward, we will be diving into the strategies to help us shift our assessment practices given the rise of GenAI. Just three more sessions to go, culminating in a day of creating and sharing Action Plans!

Event Calendar: Jewish Heritage Month

May is Jewish Heritage Month—a time to honour the rich history, diverse cultures, and lasting contributions of Jewish communities across Canada. Traditions of learning, justice, and community care continue to shape and inspire our work in the higher education space and beyond.

Throughout May, we encourage everyone to learn more about the culture, history, and achievements of Jewish communities in Canada. By sharing our stories and learning from one another, we help build a future rooted in mutual respect and understanding. Celebrating the contributions of all communities at Seneca brings us closer together.

Though May is drawing to a close, let's celebrate these contributions by learning more:

Additionally, a new Heritage Minute was released this month, profiling Bora Laskin, the first Jewish Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada.
