Integrating EDI into our Seneca curriculum enriches learning by exposing students to a wide variety of perspectives and experiences. This helps students develop a deeper understanding of social issues and prepares them to engage thoughtfully in a diverse world.

How to Make Connections

For example:

• Who is represented in leadership in your field, and how might their perspectives shape its direction?
• How accessible is your field or industry? What barriers might inhibit people from entering or succeeding?
• What resources does your field or industry rely on? Are these resources currently equitably distributed?

For example: 

• Aviation —  Analyze how the demographic richness in Canada can be leveraged to promote an inclusive and diverse labour force in the aviation industry.
• Business —  Analyze aspects of workplace culture that impact diversity and inclusion in an organization.
• Computer Science —  Investigate the current state of equitable internet access for urban and rural communities across Ontario.

For example: 

• Integrate into the way the assessments are designed and delivered?
• Integrate into assessment objectives and content?
• Integrate into special project settings, such as group work?

Learning to look at the world through an EDI-informed lens can help students develop into fair and understanding leaders in their fields. The skills and mindsets that our students can build here at Seneca play an important role in preparing them for future roles in work and life, shaping a more equitable and compassionate society for all.
