As part of Seneca's Minimum Requirements policy, we need to send students a welcome announcement. In addition to meeting this requirement, we also want to give our students a good first impression, and welcome announcements are an important part of that.
Welcome announcements introduce faculty, set the tone for the course, and orient students to the learning environment. We want to provide students with all the information they need to get started, and foster feelings of excitement and motivation. You may already have a welcome message that you use, and you are welcome to keep using it. As long as it introduces you, provides a short introduction to the course, and tells students how they can get started or where to find information, it does its job.
