With each passing year, technology continues to move at an exciting pace. As software, devices, and AI continue to evolve, they create new possibilities that encourage discovery, innovation, and opportunities for learning.
So, join us to explore these technologies together as we find new and inspiring ways to “phone home”!
Join us in person on February 24th at Seneca’s Newnham Campus for a day focused on Emerging Technologies in our ever‑changing educational landscape. The day will feature an insightful keynote presentation highlighting today’s most game-changing technology, an honest and open panel discussion between faculty and students, and hands‑on workshops that offer practical ways of implementing this technology into your own teaching.
Our speaker of the day is Dr. Nicole Johnson, a leading expert with two decades of knowledge in macro-level digital learning trends. Dr. Johnson’s talk, “AI and Emerging Technologies: Preparing Students for a Changing World,” will explore how we can equip students to thrive in a rapidly evolving world shaped by AI and emerging technologies. As well, it will offer forward-thinking strategies to foster technology adoption, while building strong digital literacy skills for the future.
Our panel discussion brings students and faculty together for informative conversations about the use of AI in the classroom. These talking points offer valuable firsthand insight into students' thoughts on the technology — perspectives that can be helpful to enrich teaching practices.
Workshop sessions build on these conversations by offering practical, hands‑on ideas you can use right away. Topics include creating your own AI assistants, exploring the latest AI‑powered features in Mentimeter and Learn@Seneca, and considering responsible and effective uses of AI in education.
We acknowledge that everyone is working diligently to uphold academic standards while thoughtfully adapting their teaching to rapid technological change. This Teaching & Learning Day is designed to support you, share what’s working in real classrooms, and strengthen our Seneca teaching community as we explore the challenges and possibilities of emerging technologies together!
