"Strengthening Digital Competencies through Culturally Responsive Assessment" from Teaching & Learning Day Winter 2022 on Monday, February 28, 2022
Facilitated by Lara (Teaching & Learning Centre at Seneca)
How have your assessment practices evolved over the past two years? Do you find that you are evaluating student achievement differently in this digital world? This interactive workshop explores strategies to improve students’ experiences with online assessments through culturally responsive practices and the development of digital competencies. Together we will consider ways to incorporate Gloria Ladson-Billings' three main principles of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy into authentic assessment design, helping us create meaningful online learning experiences that foster inclusion and belonging for students. Our discussion will also be guided by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students, which promote digital citizenship, collaboration, communication, and creativity.
