A FASET faculty member is one of the new faces on the board of directors for Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Professor Nanda Lwin of the School of Environmental and Civil Engineering Technology was installed as councillor on the board, also known as PEO Council, after the organization's online annual general meeting last Saturday (29th). In February, Lwin won a tight three-way race in PEO's East Central region, which includes the north and east parts of the Greater Toronto Area.
PEO is the self-governing body of Ontario's 90,000-plus engineers, responsible for such matters as licensing, discipline, and professional conduct. Last year, it celebrated its 100th anniversary of service. You can find Nanda's PEO profile here: https://www.peo.on.ca/about-peo/council/2023-2024-council/nanda-layos-lwin-peng-fec.
