Seneca College will be offering new OSLT (Occupation-specific Language Training) courses in the fall, Accounting and Finance, and Technology in September and Professional Managers in October.  OSLT courses are all online with students meeting virtually on Zoom two evenings a week.

OSLT courses teach students how to interact with co-workers, clients and employers effectively in the Canadian workplace. Through practical exercises, students learn the essentials of clear communication in various formats, including email, phone and in person.  The courses are sector-specific, and cover topics like introducing yourself professionally, presenting in a clear and persuasive manner, engaging in small talk and participating effectively in meetings.

To be eligible for these free courses, students need to be Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees, (not Canadian citizens or Refugee Claimants), have a Canadian Language Benchmark level 6 – 8, and have prior work experience or training in the sector.

IRCC has also opened up the eligibility criteria to include Ukrainian students with a Temporary Residence and their dependents.  These students still need to have a CLB assessment level 6 – 8 as well as relevant work or training experience.

Interested students can connect with the YMCA to book a free CLB assessment:
