Copying Content

Copying content is a useful tool when you want to copy content from another course or repeat content within a course.

There are three different types of content copying:

  • Copying a full course: Copy your entire course to a different course shell.
  • Copying a partial course: Copy selective parts of a course to a different course.
  • Copying content within a course: Copy select parts of a course.

You can copy the following content types:

  • Folders
  • Documents
  • Tests, including group tests
  • Assignments, including group assignments
  • Links to websites
  • SCORM packages
  • Discussions and journals

To Full Course Copy

  1. Navigate to the course you want to copy the course into.

  2. There are two ways to access the Copy items panel.

    • Option 1

      1. Select the ellipses next to Course Content. A drop-down menu is displayed.

      2. Select Copy Items from the drop-down menu. The Copy Items panel is displayed.

    • Option 2

      1. Select the plus icon (+). A drop-down menu is displayed.

      2. Select Copy Content from the drop-down menu. The Copy Items panel is displayed. 

  3. Select the check box next to the course you want to copy from.

  4. Select Start Copy. Copied course content will be displayed on the bottom of the Content page.


To Partial Course Copy

  1. Navigate to the course you want to copy the selective parts of a course into.

  2. There are two ways to access the Copy items panel.

    • Option 1

      1. Select the ellipses next to Course Content. A drop-down menu is displayed.

      2. Select Copy Items from the drop-down menu. The Copy Items panel is displayed.

    • Option 2

      1. Select the plus icon (+). A drop-down menu is displayed.

      2. Select Copy Content from the drop-down menu. The Copy Items panel is displayed. 

  3. Select the course you want to copy the content from. Note: Hidden courses will not show up in the Copy Content panel.

  4. Select the check box next to the content you want to copy from. Note: Select the arrow icon to take you inside that folder or module. This allows you to choose specific items within a folder or module. 

  5. Select the blue underlined titles to navigate back one or multiple steps. Note: You can copy content from different courses. 

  6. Select Start Copy. Copied course content will be displayed on the bottom of the Content page.


To Copy Within a Course

To copy an item within a course:

  1. Navigate to the course you want to copy within.
  2. There are two ways to access the Copy items panel.
    • Option 1
      1. Select the ellipses next to Course Content. A drop-down menu is displayed.
      2. Select Copy Items from the drop-down menu. The Copy Items panel is displayed.
    • Option 2
      1. Select the plus icon (+). A drop-down menu is displayed.
      2. Select Copy Content from the drop-down menu. The Copy Items panel is displayed. 
  3. Select the course you want to copy from. Note: Hidden courses will not show up in the Copy Content panel.
  4. Navigate to the content you want to copy. Note: Select the arrow icon to take you inside that folder or module. This allows you to choose specific items within a folder or module. 
  5. Select the check box next to the content. Note: You can select multiple items at a time.
  6. Select the blue underlined titles, to navigate back one or multiple steps. 
  7. Select Start Copy. Copied course content will be displayed on the bottom of the Content page.
