Every February, Seneca pays tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of Black Canadians, whose efforts have shaped our country and transformed it into the culturally diverse and compassionate place it is today. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs, and challenges that have become an indelible part of our country's history.
This year's theme, Building Blocks for Black Futures, represents the importance of our foundations as an institution to address and dismantle the inequities faced by Black communities while calling for the urgent need to build new foundations that nurture a future of justice and possibilities.
Throughout the month, Seneca Polytechnic employees are invited to engage in a series of events designed to foster awareness, understanding and celebration including:
Thursday, Feb. 15, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in Library, Seneca@York Campus: Afrofuturistic Art and Unveiling and LEGO® Workshop with Ekow Nimakow
Thursday, Feb. 22, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in Newnham Campus, Building K: Black Excellence Showcase
Learn about these events and more by visiting the Black History Month space.
