This is a 60-minute workshop with 30 minutes at the end for questions.
The public debut of generative AI (GenAI) in late 2022 placed powerful new creation tools in the hands of students, transforming the ways academic work can be produced. This workshop explores how the assessment of learning is changing in a post-AI era. Now more than ever, educators are being asked to rethink traditional assessment approaches that emphasize the summarization of knowledge in favour of those that evaluate higher-order processes. By re-examining learning goals, we will consider how assessment design can support the appropriate integration of GenAI skills. Through reflection, discussion, and example sharing, participants will uncover their assessment challenges along with strategies for making assessments more meaningful and relevant in today’s AI-driven world.
