Do you know an internationally-trained health care professional?  Do you know a dental hygienist, dietitian, medical laboratory technologist, medical radiation technologist, nurse, occupational therapist, personal support worker, physiotherapist, sleep technologist or a social worker that is new to Canada?  Do they need to improve their language skills to communicate effectively with their patients and co-workers?

This January 2024 Seneca is offering free 40-hour workplace-communication courses for eligible students.

The courses are all online, with students meeting on Zoom once a week.

  • OSLT Health: Accessing the Health Care Job Market in Ontario (40 h)
  • OSLT Health: Communicating in the Health Care Sector in Ontario (40 h)
  • OSLT Writing Professionally in the Health Care Sector (40 h)

OSLT students can plan the next steps in their career, learn how to talk about their professional background, knowledge and skills, and practice communicating in the health sector.

Please see the link for course descriptions and schedules:

OSLT Schedule

To be eligible for these free OSLT courses, students need to be Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees, (not Canadian citizens or Refugee Claimants), have a Canadian Language Benchmark level 6 – 8, and have prior work experience or training in the sector.

IRCC has also opened up the eligibility criteria to include Ukrainian students with a Temporary Residence and their dependents.  These students still need to have a CLB assessment level 6 – 8 as well as relevant work or training experience.

Students interested in OSLT can email the coordinator for more information:
