What is the difference between the VR Lab and the VR Sandbox?

The VR Lab is a large space for students to experience VR for learning. The VR Sandbox is a small private space fo rfaculty to explore VR for thei rown professional and course development.

Who can use the VR Lab and VR Sandbox?

The VR Lab can be booked by faculty for class sessions or open practice sessions. The VR Sandbox can be booked by faculty for personal discovery / research. The VR Lab and VR Sandbox are not available for non-academic use.

How do I book the VR Lab or VR Sandbox?

Please contact teaching@senecapolytechnic.ca to book time in the VR Lab or VR Sandbox.

How many students can participate at one time?

The VR Lab can accommodate up to 12 students for stationary VR experiences (seated or standing in place), or up to 6 students for roomscale VR experiences (moving about).

What equipment is available?

The VR Lab is equipped with:

  • Meta Quest2 and Quest 3 VR headsets
  • Gaming PC laptops + link cables
  • Audio headphones with mics
  • Casting from headsets to screen)

Do I need previous experience with VR?

No. Faculty orientation and training sessions are available. A lab monitor is present during all sessions for technical support.

How do I find or request a VR app?

If you have an idea for a VR experience for your class, visit the Getting Started page and complete the XR Project Intake form. Our team will review your request and provide guidance on sourcing applications.
