Effective Online Teaching

BBTeach + Online Asynchronous

In this is a 4-week asynchronous course, faculty participants will learn both the basic elements of high-quality online course design and delivery alongside more advanced strategies to elevate their online course from good to great. Through interactive learning modules, activities, and deliverables, participants will be introduced to concepts such as curriculum and lesson planning, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessibility, online assessments, and building a community of learners.

There are no live sessions in this course. You will be able to work through the material at your own pace.

By the end of this course, faculty participants will be able to:

  1. Employ best practices in online course design to ensure that course curriculum, lesson plans and instructional content meet Seneca online course design quality standards.
  2. Apply principles of UDL and EDI to create a student-centred learning experience.
  3. Design an online assessment strategy that measures student achievement and promotes academic integrity.
  4. Implement techniques to meet AODA, copyright, and privacy requirements.
  5. Use a community of inquiry framework to build and support a learning community within a virtual classroom.

Course dates: May 13 to Jun. 7, 2024
This is a four-week asynchronous course.

Registration closes at 1:00 p.m. (Eastern time) on Friday, May 10, 2024.

This 4-week course is fully asynchronous. Participants can move through the materials at their own pace to complete required deliverables for Modules 1-6. Course facilitators will monitor in-class activities and be available for office hours.
