First Bundle in the Faculty Development Program

Course
9/10/2024 9:50 AM 4:10 PM (Eastern Daylight Time)
Newnham Campus

The first bundle of courses in the Faculty Development Program consists of three components:

  • Foundations of Teaching and Learning
Foundations of Teaching and Learning (FTL) is designed to help faculty develop and/or further their proficiencies in the area of curriculum planning, design, delivery, and assessment of student learning. It provides opportunities for faculty to explore links within, across and outside of the curriculum in order to develop a cross-disciplinary, experiential approach to learning that emphasizes diverse learning experiences.
"Foundations of Teaching and Learning" is the prerequisite for "Technology-Enhanced Learning" (in the second bundle of the Faculty Development Program) and "Inclusive Teaching and Scholarly Practice" (in the third bundle of the Faculty Development Program).
  • Fundamentals of Flexible Course Design and Delivery
Through an exploration of Flexible concepts, participants learn how to rethink traditional online and classroom-based learning into a Flexible mode that considers how students will engage with them, the course content, and each other. Practical exercises will enable participant to gain the knowledge and skills required to design and deliver Flexible courses that are engaging and meet Seneca’s Quality Framework for Designing & Delivering Online, Hybrid, and Flexible Courses.
  • Flexible Teaching Practice Sessions
This is an opportunity to practice a teaching activity in a flexible technology classroom.

Foundations of Teaching and Learning is a 12-week course, running from September 10 to December 3, 2024. It meets weekly on Tuesdays in-person at Newnham Campus. We would like all participants to be available all day on Tuesdays to participate (between 9:50 a.m. and 4:10 p.m.) in case we need to offer two sections. We will let participants know which section they are in closer to the start date.

“Fundamentals of Flexible Course Design and Delivery” is an asynchronous online course.

“Flexible Teaching Practice Sessions” will take place in a flexible classroom on campus; the date and time will be determined by the facilitator.

Apply to register in MyPD.
